New Services

Our featured service will always be in red:  See below.

  • ATM – Now moved to 1012 W 20th Ave. It is still a walkup ATM for inquiries and cash items only. Sorry, no check deposits. It is available, 24/7, and if you have our plastic card, or your credit union belongs to the Alliance One ATM group, you can use the machine without fear of a surcharge, even though it does say there is one. That is only for those who do not have our cards, etc. All you need is your PIN (Personal Identification Number).
  • Decision Now – a loan application on our HFS (online) web page that will let you know within minutes if your application has been approved – denied – or referred to the Credit Union. You will not have to be signed up for HFS in order to use this new product. Look for that vehicle online, check out our rates on our web site, apply and get an answer all at the same time, on the weekend or during the night. Then it is just a matter of a short time to come in, sign papers and get the money you need. Talk about convenience!!!                                                   1919
  • Tips for Travelers to Prevent Identity Theft: When traveling, the risk of identity theft increases, whether from a stolen wallet or purse, or mail from a vacationer’s mailbox. With either of these, a thief could get access to enough personal information to buy a new car or take out a mortgage in the victim’s name. The following is advice from Frank Abagnale, a world-renowned expert on forgery, embezzlement, and secure documents, who now works with the FBI:
    • Review all bills and receipts to make sure you really bought the product or service;
    • Avoid suspicious ATMs - some are rigged to access your personal information while you are using them;
    • Protect your mailbox. Consider a locked box. Have the post office hold your mail when you are gone;
    • Don't let sales people and waiters copy your account numbers when they are handling your card or check;
    • Keep track of your billing cycles and call if bills seem late or missing; and
    • Check your credit reports often - at least once a year - from the "big three" credit reporting agencies (Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian).

  • Id Theft Link: We have added a new link to our "Links" envelope on our Home Page. It will link you up with a site by Liberty Check Printers where they will have weekly updates and fraud alerts, new or changed laws and regulations on identity theft. Since the site is not ours, we cannot guarantee its contents or its accuracy. But it is worth a look - see. Also, don't forget that we have a link to a brochure on Identity Theft. Just click on the icon at the bottom of the main pages.

  • Mortgages - we have partnered with Winnebago Conmmunity Credit Union, in Oshkosh, who will offer you purchase money First mortgages, and all the rest.  Be sure to see the info under the Loans Service Button.  We still offer our inhouse mortgages.  (See next on the list)!
  • In-House mortgages – we now can go up to 90% of the fair market value of your home, all the way to $99,999.99. On amounts over $100,000, we must have an appraisal along with some other requirements. If this appraisal is not required, the cost to you will be about $100 - $125 or less, depending on how much the title search costs. We also have 24 or 36 or 48 month Balloons, amortizing the payment out over 15 years, if the dollar amount is over $15,000. Because it is an adjustable rate, we will keep the servicing here at OPECU. That means we do not sell the servicing and therefore, you always pay at OPECU. Time to take another look???
  • Reward Pricing: based on the number of services you have with us, you may be entitled to .25%, up to .50% off most loan services with us. It is our way of saying “thank you” to those who use the credit union. Now offered with our certificate program at .10% or .25%.   In the future, we will have reward pricing for other basic services, too. Watch for this new way of thanking our members!!
  • Overdraft Protection: another way to help when the bill comes due before the paycheck. This one you will have to check out through the office – too long to explain fully. Important – you do not have to apply for it, but you can opt out anytime.

  • Seminars: from time to time, OPECU will be working with other credit unions in the area to put on needed seminars. Our first joint adventure was on Identity Theft in the Fall of 2004, with about 16 credit unions from Fond du Lac to Appleton participating. It was a great success for those who came and for the participating credit unions. Watch for more info and more seminars in the future.
  • New Certificate Feature: the 36 month certificate has a one time “step-up” feature. Once during the 36 month period, you can request to raise the rate to whatever is the going rate for a 36 month certificate at that time. The term will not change, just the rate. Locking into a longer term certificate just became easier.
