Oshkosh Postal Employees Credit Union is committed to making available financial products and services that will enable the
members to meet their financial needs and reach their financial goals. Protecting personal information and using it in a manner
consistent with the members’ expectations is a high priority for everyone associated with the credit union. The members also
have a responsibility, to safeguard their financial information.
The Way We Use Information.
This credit union will collect only the personal information that is necessary to con-duct business. That means, just what is
necessary to provide competitive financial products and services, no more.
Security of Information.
OPECU will protect the members’ personal information. The credit union will maintain strong security controls to ensure that
member information in our files and computers is protected. where appropriate, the credit union will use security coding
techniques to protect against unauthorized access to personal records, ensure accuracy and integrity of communications and
transactions, and protect member confidentiality. The member will always have access to his/her/their own information. The
member will have the opportunity to review his/her/their information and make necessary changes to ensure that the credit
union records are complete and accurate.
Sharing of Information (Associates) and Business Partners
This credit union will only share information when absolutely necessary, to administer the products and services the credit
union provides, when required to do so by the government, or when OPECU partners with other businesses to offer a
broader array of products and services. OPECU will partner only with businesses that follow strict confidentiality
requirements. The businesses the credit union selects will offer products designed to enhance the members’ economic
well-being. Under no circumstances will the credit union authorize these firms to charge the member’s account without the
express consent of the member. The credit union will not sell member information to telemarketing firms.
Members Right to Opt Out.
Since information shared with an associate is information that is needed to carry on the day to day operation and deliver
services to the members, there is no opt option. However, any member may elect to keep information from being shared
with the business
partners. OPECU will inform the member on how to exercise his/her/their choice to opt out if he/she/they want, and will take
all reasonable steps to make sure the request(s) is/are followed. At least once a year, the credit union will remind all
members of their right to choose.
